Heel Pain

The most common cause of heel pain is Plantar Fasciitis. It is often referred to as “first-step pain” as it is usually most painful first thing in the morning.

What is it? Irritation of the fibrous plantar fascia which runs from the ball of the foot to the heel. It is often accompanied by a tight Achilles tendon. A heel spur can also occur but it is not this which usually causes the pain.

Causes: Repetitive excess forces created by walking or standing for a long time.

Treatment: Pain killers, ice, massage, strapping, excercises, orthotic insoles, correct footwear.

See the Rehabilitation section of my Products pages to find aids to help Plantar Fasciitis.

A Foot Health Practitioner can help with the above.

There are other causes of heel pain so it is advisable to see your G.P. or book an appointment with me.
